Let’s try to understand a bit about Pinterest.
To be honest, I used to have the wrong opinion about Pinterest. Earlier, I thought it was the same as Instagram and Facebook. But actually, Pinterest is not a social media platform, as you might think; it’s a visual search engine. You mainly see content in a visual format here, called “pins”.
The difference between the Google search engine and the Pinterest search engine
You can see multiple websites when you search for something on Google. Those are called SEO titles. You click on them to access the content.
[Note: If you want to create that content yourself, here are some profitable ways to start content writing from home.]
Similarly, Pinterest also works like a search engine. Instead of text, you mainly find visuals here. These are called pins.”
You can’t consume content directly here; you’ll be redirected to the destination site through the pin.
I think you understand it clearly.
Your role as a Pinterest manager
Just like on Google, people here are also actively searching for what they want. As a result, foreign brands are willing to invest in the platform. In fact, many of them are ready to invest heavily. This high demand makes Pinterest management one of the best side hustles to start today.
As a Pinterest manager, your role is all about strategic management, which means understanding clients’ business goals and creating pins that align with them. Additionally, you will do keyword research and plan and execute campaigns to drive sales or website traffic

In this article, I’m going to give you a step-by-step guide on how to attract high-paying, premium clients and how to communicate with them effectively.
How to present yourself as an expert Pinterest manager?
Portfolio Building
Building a professional portfolio is mandatory to get clients. No client is going to give you work without prior experience or a portfolio.
Right?
Before that, do you know what a portfolio actually is?
Your work samples are your portfolio.
However, as a beginner, you don’t have prior work experience, right?
Then, how are you supposed to get a portfolio?
Has this ever been a doubt for you?
The best solution I have found is to create your own Pinterest account and grow it organically.
You can do this in 2 ways, as far as I know.
Pinterest affiliate marketing
It’s better to do Pinterest affiliate marketing than just grow an account for the sake of a portfolio. You can earn affiliate commission by doing this. You need a website to drive traffic from Pinterest for this.
Here, you don’t need to invest in something costly like Hostinger. Start with Blogger, Google’s free hosting platform. There, you can write reviews of affiliate products and drive traffic to your blog. Through that, you can earn commissions.
By doing this, your efforts won’t go to waste. Along with affiliate commissions, it will also serve as a portfolio you can show clients.
Note: If you are just starting, you can also explore different content creation ideas like faceless YouTube channels, which are another great way to build a portfolio and earn online income
Blogging
Create a sample blog and drive traffic to it. By doing this, your blog will get traffic and impressions, which you can show as your portfolio. Even if you don’t make any money from the blog at the beginning, it is still very helpful for building your portfolio.
Note: You can create a Pinterest account without having a blog. But here you need outbound clicks, and for that, you definitely need a website.
Make sure your portfolio includes monthly views, engagement, and outbound clicks from Pinterest Analytics. Take screenshots of these and save them.
Also, create boards and place your best-designed pins on them.
Like:
- Standard pins
- Video pin
- Idea pins
Case studies
Clients look for people who can solve their specific problems. They might ask, ‘How will you drive traffic to my website?’
At that point, you need to briefly explain all the strategies you have used so far. Show how you grew your own blog mentioned above.
Explain the struggles you faced, such as not seeing results at first, trial and error, maintaining consistency, and so on. Narrate your experience. Describe your keyword and SEO strategy, and also mention how many pins you created and how you scheduled them daily.
Explain step by step how views and impressions increased and then how CTR improved.
This will help you build a strong case study.
Niche selection
As a Pinterest manager, to begin your journey, you must choose a niche. If you’re not sure which niche to choose, there are plenty of Pinterest-friendly options. Below, I’ve mentioned a few of them. Currently, the top five niches on Pinterest are
1. Home Decor: This is one of the top-searched niches on Pinterest. It includes interior design ideas, room decoration tips, DIY home improvement ideas, and aesthetic home setups.
2. Food: Recipes, diet plans, and food presentation ideas. This niche performs well because people often search for easy cooking and healthy meal ideas.
3. Lifestyle: Daily routines, organisation, productivity tips, and self-improvement content. It focuses on improving everyday life.
4. Fashion: New trends, outfit ideas, styling tips, and seasonal fashion inspiration. It is highly visual and always trending.
5. Personal Finance: Money-saving tips, budgeting strategies, and investment ideas. This niche attracts users who want to improve their financial knowledge. Identify which of these five categories interests you and start your journey. The main clients you should target:
1. E-commerce (Shopify/Etsy owners):
Did you know? The e-commerce business is booming now. Its business owners have lots of products. They need quality traffic from Pinterest to sell their products, so they hire a Pinterest manager. As a Pinterest manager, you should create attractive pins for their products and schedule them on Pinterest. Research what keywords people are searching for on Pinterest related to that product. Make sure those keywords are in both titles and descriptions. If you use the perfect strategy to drive traffic, their sales will increase.
2. High-ticket coaches:
There are many subject matter experts. They use Pinterest to sell their courses or offer consulting. So, you need to bring them quality leads through Pinterest. You should create infographic pins to boost their authority.
3. Lifestyle/Content Bloggers:
Pinterest is extremely useful for bloggers. In particular, lifestyle bloggers enjoy a very high RPM. The more traffic a blog receives, the more money it can earn from premium ad networks such as AdThrive (Raptive) and Mediavine. You need to plan your content to get millions of impressions and clicks. You must maintain traffic by creating fresh pins.
How to find clients
Alright, now let’s get to the most important point in our blog: ‘Finding the Clients.’ There are many ways to secure clients, and below I outline some of the key methods:
LinkedIn Strategy:
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional networking platform. It is one of the best platforms to find clients.
Let me explain a bit about LinkedIn.
Key Aspects of LinkedIn
- Professional Identity & Networking
- Job Searching & Hiring
- Content & Marketing
- Learning & Growth
Let’s see why people use LinkedIn.
- Career Management: Finding new jobs, internships, and networking opportunities.
- Business Growth: Generating leads, finding clients, and building partnerships.
Here, I want to talk about content marketing. You can get clients through this method.
Let me explain how you can do this.
First, create a professional profile on LinkedIn and optimise it properly. Since you provide Pinterest management services, your headline needs to be very clear.
A few headlines I listed below for you
- ‘Pinterest Growth Strategist for E-commerce’
- ‘Helping Coaches get 1M+ views on Pinterest’
Next, coming to content marketing
How to do this?
You should consistently create valuable content related to your service. You should publish posts, articles or videos about Pinterest management at least three times a week. Posting consistently will grow your profile, increase your reach and help you gain followers.
Here are some content ideas for you:
- How did a brand increase its sales using Pinterest?
- How does the Pinterest algorithm work in 2026?’
Over time, once your profile becomes popular, you’ll start getting inbound leads. This means business owners will contact you directly. However, this can take some time, so you’ll need to be patient and keep creating content.
Facebook Groups
Connecting with clients through Facebook groups is a very easy way to do so. As far as I know, many people have got their first clients through Facebook. All you have to do is search for relevant groups related to your service and join them.
Some groups you should target:
You should join these kinds of groups and market yourself. However, always remember one thing here: you should never directly ask, ‘Hire me.’ Instead, you should explain how you can solve a problem.
For example:
- How to drive traffic using a Pinterest account?
- How to increase outbound clicks?
- What strategies should be used to increase sales?
You should keep posting about such topics and also answer doubts in the comments.
By being active in these groups regularly, you’ll get noticed. Clients are more likely to trust you and give you work. This is one of the easiest ways to get clients for you.
Instagram DM Strategy
Instagram is the largest social media platform owned by Meta. You can also easily find clients here.
Let me explain how to do this.
You can achieve this through hashtags.
Let me explain what hashtags are.
Hashtags on Instagram are keywords or phrases that start with the “#” symbol and are used to categorise posts and make them discoverable to people searching for similar content.
You need to use relevant hashtags and search for brands related to your service.
For example:
- #homedecor
- #foodblogger
- #lifestyle
Follow the following strategy to find your ideal clients.
Search for the hashtags I mentioned above and open the brands’ Instagram profiles. There, you will find their website link in the bio. Go through their website and check if they have a Pinterest account. Then conduct a full audit. Find out whether their account is set up correctly and what improvements are needed.
Analyse everything and prepare a simple message or email explaining how to fix those mistakes. This is called a cold email. The message should be very personalised, not generic.
Note: To make your cold emails more persuasive and get higher response rates, you need good writing skills. If you’re new to this, check out this guide on starting copywriting as a beginner to master the art of selling through words
You should clearly mention the mistakes in their account and suggest how to fix them.
Don’t get discouraged if you’re not getting replies to your cold emails. Keep sending them until you get clients.
In the meantime, if you are looking for other ways to earn while you build your client base, check out these best mobile apps to find part-time jobs to manage your daily expenses.
Sending a personalised audit-based message increases the chances of conversion. It is a very effective method.
Client outreach strategies
The client outreach method means instead of waiting for clients, you take the initiative and reach out to them. It works well for everyone. But it needs patience and consistency.
To do this, open your Pinterest account and search for accounts across categories such as e-commerce owners, home decor brands, and food bloggers. Open their profiles, visit their websites, and send a direct cold message.
As I mentioned for Instagram, you should follow a similar approach here, too.
Check these things in their profile below before sending mail.
- Is their Pinterest account properly set up?
- Are the pins well-designed?
- Are the SEO titles correct?
Check all of this and send them a personalised email. This is a very effective method.
Another important thing to remember here is to “niche down”.
This means focusing on a single category on Pinterest rather than targeting all niches. This will help you reduce your competition.
For example, you can find home decor, lifestyle, or food blogs on Pinterest. In this, you should target just one category.
If you choose “food blogs”, there are many content creators in that niche. They publish content daily. Typically, the RPM in the food niche is high, and they earn a good income through Mediavine or other ad networks.
I have provided a personalised cold email template below. Refer this
Personalised Cold Email Template
Subject Line: ‘A quick idea to 2x your [Brand Name] website traffic via Pinterest!’
Body Structure:
Compliment: ‘Your website/Instagram is fantastic; I particularly love the design of your latest product.’
Identify the Gap: ‘However, many people are searching for this product on Pinterest, but your profile is not yet properly optimised there.’
Show Value: ‘I’ve designed 3 sample pins for your brand (see attachment).’
Call to Action (CTA): ‘If you’re interested, let’s have a 10-minute call to discuss it.’
Important note: It is far better to research and send a personalised message to 10 people than to copy-paste the same message to a hundred.
Follow-up: You might not get a reply to your first message. After 3-4 days, send a polite reminder asking, ‘Have you had a chance to look at the audit report I sent?’
All the best.
How to Charge Your Clients
How much should you charge for services?
First, you need to understand how pricing works.
If you analyse the market, you can figure it out easily. You can search on freelancing platforms for “Pinterest pin management”. If you look at their packages, you’ll see different pricing ranges. They usually start from $150 per month and go up to $300–$400 or even more.
Instead of copying the same prices, start by pricing slightly lower than the market rate while still offering high-quality services. Since this is your portfolio stage, your focus should be on delivering the best results.
This approach applies not only to Pinterest management but also to other freelancing services. Offering strong quality at a slightly lower price will help you convert your first clients.
I will also give you a simple pricing formula.
For example, if a client needs 5 pins per day and posting is required for 6 days a week, you can estimate the effort and set a price around $300–$500 per month as a starting point.
Use this kind of calculation to guide your pricing. It can also vary based on workload and client requirements.
The numbers mentioned are for beginners. Experienced Pinterest managers charge much higher, and on freelancing platforms, you will often see monthly packages of $1000–$1500 or more for similar work.
However, as a beginner, you should not expect such high amounts in the early stage. Be realistic.
Many foreign clients are willing to pay these rates because their communication and business practices are different.
So, do not rush to charge high prices. Focus on skill development in the first year. Work consistently for one to two years, and then gradually increase your pricing.
First, grow your skills. Then grow your connections. Then grow your relationships. After that, you can increase your rates.
