How to earn from paid online surveys

Today, I am going to share a side hustle you can start with no investment.

If I talk about a side hustle, there are several ways to make money online. Among them, one of the easiest methods, requiring very little effort and no investment, is online paid surveys.

Over the past few years, I have earned a decent income from all the survey sites that I know personally.

You might have seen so many articles about paid survey sites.

But in my article, I will share my payment proofs with you all so you can gain some confidence to earn money from this.

Are you ready?

But one thing keep in your mind that,

You don’t expect to make much money from survey sites. But trust me, these will help you meet your daily needs.

What Are Online Surveys?

Online surveys are a way to collect people’s opinions.

Large companies prepare a set of questions to understand what people think about their new products or the services already available in the market. The answers you provide to these questions are called a “survey”.

These surveys are usually 10 min to 1 hour.

Depending on the length of the surveys, your rewards may fluctuate; shorter surveys may pay less, while longer ones may pay more.

These surveys are usually related to food, electronics, travel, or everyday products.

Why Do Companies Pay for People’s Opinions?

I’ll explain why companies pay for people’s opinions.

Before begin

Just think about it for a moment.

If companies are paying you money, they obviously won’t do it without getting any benefit.

Right?

If you feel companies are giving you money for free just for answering some random questions,

Then you are wrong.

In the corporate world, this is called market research. It is very important for a company’s survival.

There are a few reasons behind that, and I’ll explain them clearly.

Product Development

Suppose a company launches a new product that costs hundreds of dollars. Without doing any market research, a company brings a product to market, and if people don’t like it, all the money they invested will be wasted, and the company will face losses.

Right?

To avoid such losses, companies conduct surveys beforehand. Through those surveys, they collect valuable feedback from people like you. In return for those opinions, they pay rewards in the form of money or gift cards.

Let me tell you what kind of details companies actually get from these surveys.

They understand people’s purchasing mindset.

What kind of features do consumers want?

What price do they want to pay for the product?

They learn such valuable things. As a result, companies can reduce losses in the crores.

Targeting the Right Customers

Not all products are for everyone.

For example, suppose there is a luxury car company.

Whose opinions do companies need?

They need opinions from people with money who can actually buy those cars.

For those opinions, they first ask a few questions to determine whether a particular person is eligible to take the survey. Only those who qualify are shown the survey. If a company shows this survey to college students or people who cannot afford it, it is of no use to them. As a result, it becomes a waste of time and money for that company. Therefore, targeting the right audience is very important.

Companies filter data like age, income, and interests. That is the data companies are paying for.

Advertisements and Branding

Advertisements shown on TVs and YouTube involve huge budgets. Before shooting and releasing an ad, they show it to some ordinary people and conduct a survey.

Did you like this ad?

Did you understand the message in it?

Was it boring?

They ask.

Based on people’s feedback, they make changes to the ad. After all, sales increase only if the ad clicks with people, right?

Gaining an Advantage Over Competitors

Surveys help companies understand how their product can be better than those already in the market.

They ask customers,

What is the thing you dislike about the brand you are currently using?

A company launches a new product by correcting the problems customers mention.

Let me explain with a simple example.

Before starting a project worth 100 USD, spending just 50 USD on surveys to gather people’s opinions is a very small thing for a company.

So they pay you in the form of money, gift vouchers, or rewards for your time and valuable opinion. Here, as a consumer you get money, and the company gets an idea that can bring profits. It is a mutually beneficial process.

Who Can Benefit From This?

If you are a student, you can spend one or two hours a day earning pocket money while studying. If you are a homemaker after finishing your household work, you can use your free time to earn income. If you are looking for a part-time job and want extra income, you can absolutely complete surveys on your phone after office hours or while travelling. If you are an unemployed individual looking for a job, you can use this to cover small expenses during the job search.

Basic requirements to start paid online surveys

You need a few basic resources ready to make your work easier and increase your earnings to start earning through online surveys, and here, resources mean don’t think of it as a huge investment. For your surveys A smartphone or laptop with a good internet connection is actually enough for you to take surveys. Additionally, a dedicated email address is also required to take surveys. Why? Because survey websites send a number of notifications to your Gmail daily. If you register survey sites with your personal email address, your inbox will fill up with mixed notifications, and you could miss valuable information. So, for this Create, your own separate Gmail ID solely for surveys. And a laptop is not mandatory to start surveys; you can also take surveys on a mobile device. But I prefer doing surveys on a laptop because the questions are visible, and some surveys are designed only for desktop users. So, having a laptop makes the whole process smoother and less interrupted for me. And one more point here I want to share with you is to make sure your internet connection stays stable throughout the survey. You could lose the payment for that survey if your connection drops in the middle of it and your data isn’t saved. Keep in mind this point.

Payment accounts to receive earnings

To get the money you earn from surveys, you need the following accounts:

PayPal: International survey sites (e.g., Swagbucks, ySense) usually pay in dollars. To transfer that money directly to your Indian bank account, you need a PayPal account.

Paytm / UPI: Indian survey apps pay cash directly to your mobile number or UPI ID.

Rewards & Gift Cards

Many survey companies offer rewards not only in cash but also as gift cards. In fact, sometimes opting for gift cards can be more profitable than cash.

Amazon & Flipkart gift vouchers: These are very popular. You can convert the points you earn into Amazon or Flipkart vouchers and use them to shop or pay bills.

Better offers: Sometimes, instead of taking $10 in cash, the same points can get you a $12 gift card. This means extra bonus value when you choose gift cards.

Lower minimum withdrawal: To withdraw cash, there may be a minimum point requirement (e.g., 500 or 1000 points), but gift cards can often be redeemed with fewer points (e.g., 100 or 250 points).

Other brands: Besides shopping sites, vouchers from brands like Myntra, BookMyShow, Dominos, etc., are also available.

3. Top Trusted Survey Sites I Personally Earn From

Look, friends, if you search online, you’ll find thousands of survey sites. But most of them can be fake or may not pay even if you put in the effort. That’s why I’m sharing a few of the best websites and apps I have personally used to successfully withdraw money. These are 100% trustworthy.

I am sharing the top 10 platforms I’m currently using:

1. Toluna Influencers & LifePoints

These two are my favourites. Surveys on Toluna are very simple, and the points you earn can be converted into gift vouchers. LifePoints is similar; surveys come regularly, and the interface is very user-friendly.

2. Ipsos i-Say & Valued Opinions

i-Say is a very well-known international platform. Completing surveys here gives you reward points. As for Valued Opinions, the reward for each survey is slightly higher than most (around ₹40-₹100).

3. Swagbucks & ySense

If you want to earn in dollars, these are the best. On Swagbucks, you can earn ‘SB’ points not only by doing surveys but also by watching videos or playing games. These points can be sent to your bank account via PayPal.

4. AttaPoll (Mobile App)

This is an app I really like. You can do small surveys on your phone from anywhere. Even with a minimum amount of $3, you can withdraw instantly. Payments are also very fast.

5. The Panel Station & Opinion World

On The Panel Station, the more surveys you complete, the more points you earn. These can be converted into shopping vouchers. Opinion World also has very clear surveys, and its points system is easy to understand.

6. Ormax Online & Opinion Bureau

Ormax is great for those interested in the Indian market and the movie industry. On the Opinion Bureau, you also get a small joining bonus as soon as you register.

My personal tip: I’ve created accounts on all the above sites. The reason is simple: if one site doesn’t have surveys, another definitely will. Balancing all of them this way is how I manage to earn a decent amount every month.

4. How to Start Earning?

Many people register on sites but drop off because they don’t receive surveys. Since I’ve been in this field, I’m sharing a few practical steps with you. If you follow them correctly, surveys will come to you, and you’ll get paid.

Account Creation (Registration)

First, go to any of the websites I mentioned earlier and register using your name and email ID.

Important: As soon as you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Don’t forget to click the link in it to activate your account. If you skip this step, you won’t receive any surveys.

Profile Setup – This is the real secret!

Once your account is open, you’ll see some questions under “Profile Surveys” or “About Me”. Complete these very carefully.

Companies decide who gets which survey based on your profile.

For example, if you don’t mention anything about cars in your profile, you won’t get surveys related to cars. So, provide detailed info about your habits and products you use.

Only when your profile is 100% complete will you have a better chance of getting more surveys.

Notifications and Alerts (Stay Active)

Surveys aren’t always available. When a survey comes out, it’s often limited to a small number of people (e.g., the first 500).

That’s why I always keep my email notifications ON.

As soon as a new survey arrives, I try to complete it immediately. If I delay, I might see “Survey Closed” or “Screened Out”.

Precautions While Completing Surveys

Don’t just click randomly; read the questions first. Companies include tricky checks in the middle to see if you’re paying attention (for example, “Select the colour ‘red’ from the options below”). If you click incorrectly, they assume you’re not serious and may stop you mid-survey.

In my experience, in the first couple of days you may get fewer surveys. But if you visit the site regularly, companies gain your trust and start sending you more valuable surveys.

5. My Personal Tips to Earn More

Many people start doing surveys but stop after a few days, saying, “I’m earning too little.” But I earn regularly in this field, and that comes with some methods. If you want to increase your income, follow these tips:

Give Quality Answers (Quality is Key)

Survey companies carefully observe our answers. If you just click randomly without reading the questions, their software will detect it.

Be honest: If your profile says one thing and your survey answers contradict it, your account will get a negative rating.

Read carefully: read the question fully and provide your true opinion. The more quality answers you give, the more high-paying surveys you’ll get.

Visit Websites Regularly (Daily Routine)

Don’t just wait for email notifications. Here’s what I do:

At least twice a day, I log in to the websites I mentioned earlier (Toluna, ySense, LifePoints, etc.) and check for surveys.

Sometimes, even if emails don’t arrive, new surveys appear on the website dashboard. Doing this ensures you never miss an opportunity.

Keep Your Profile Updated

Life changes (for example, buying a new phone, moving to a new city, or getting married). When such changes happen, update your survey profile. This will ensure you start receiving surveys for your new categories.

Be careful with attention-check questions.

In the middle of a survey, companies ask some questions to test you. For example: “If you are reading this question, click on the picture of the ‘lion’ below.” If you click the wrong option, the survey may stop right there. So always stay alert.

Accounts on More Than One Site

As I mentioned earlier, don’t rely on just one site. I maintain accounts on 10 sites. If you do the same, you’ll have decent earnings at the end of the month. When one site has no work, you can earn from another.

My small tip: Make surveys a habit. Instead of wasting time on social media when you’re free, doing surveys will help you financially.

6. Stay Safe from Scams

When we hope to earn money online, many people try to take advantage of it. Since I’ve been in this field, I want to share some harsh truths with you. To avoid getting scammed, make sure to remember these points:

1. If they ask for money, it’s 100% fake!

This is the most important thing everyone must remember. No genuine survey website will ever ask you for a registration fee or a security deposit, not even one rupee.

If anyone says, “We have surveys, but you need to pay ₹500 first,” leave that site immediately. They will take your money and disappear.

2. Bank details and OTPs

It’s okay if surveys ask for your personal opinions. But they will never ask for your bank password, debit/credit card CVV, or OTPs sent to your phone. If any website asks for such sensitive info, it’s fraudulent.

3. Sites promising too much

Be very careful with sites claiming things like, “We’ll pay ₹5,000 for just one survey” or “Earn lakhs by working 10 minutes a day.” Earning through surveys does happen, but they are limited. If someone is promising unrealistic income, it’s a scam.

4. Don’t download unnecessary software

Some fake sites say, “Install this app or software to get surveys.” This can infect your phone or laptop with viruses. Only use the trusted websites I mentioned above or official apps available on the Play Store.

My personal request: Don’t give the money you earn with hard work to anyone for free. The websites I mentioned above, like Toluna and Swagbucks, are used by millions of people worldwide, so you can trust them. If you come across a new site, make it a habit to check its reviews on Google first.

7. Conclusion

Friends, you’ve read everything so far! Earning money through online surveys is not magic, but it is a reliable source of income.

Having been in this field for a while, I can say one thing for sure: with patience and discipline, you can definitely earn enough money to cover your expenses. Instead of wasting time on social media, dedicate just one hour a day to this. Register on the websites I mentioned above, complete your profile, and take surveys regularly.

Finally, my words to you:

This won’t make you a millionaire overnight, but as a student or a housewife, it gives you a great opportunity to earn your own money.

without asking anyone for help. Just like I earn, I hope you can do the same.

All the best to you all! If you have any doubts, ask in the comment section below. I’ll help as much as I can.
